Roses are red. Blood is too. Candy is sweet. Heart health is too. Medtronic just announced it has received FDA clearance of its CardioInsight™ noninvasive 3D mapping system. This device uses a 252-electrode sensor vest that maps to the patient’s body and enables doctors to virtually see the source of arrhythmias. This gives doctors the ability to make better informed decisions about treatment. This non-invasive method of mapping removes the need for inserting a catheter into a vein or the heart, significantly reducing risk of infection and discomfort for patients. We might have to wait another year for Valentine’s day but arrhythmically-fluttering hearts around the world just got a little happier.
