The practice puts consumers at risk too, considering they typically don’t have the skill or equipment to perform mass spectrometry on the medications they’ve received. But a biotech in Hawaii is looking to address at least the identification side of the problem. TruTag Technologies has developed a consumable tag to be placed in drug products that would allow for the quick verification of a pill in question. Their site says it’ll allow you to “follow a product throughout its entire lifecycle,” which we sincerely hope ends around the point of metabolism.
